I of course think the so called limited criminal immunity the SCOTUS decided to bestow on Trump (and, supposedly all future presidents) was and is a terrible idea that needs to be (mostly) reversed and eliminated. (Mostly, because there are certain reasons to prevent a president from being hailed into court while in office, but the way things were before the immunity decision was more than adequate). But here's my idea: in exchange for this (in future very limited) immunity, the president should not have the right to pursue civil remedies while in office. If he feels so injured he needs to sue and not wait until he's out of office (maybe toll the statute), he can resign and file his suit.
