Seriously. The president of the Untied States just said in public that it would be a "small price to pay" were the Iranians to "take out" the second largest city in the US, along with the second largest city in California. (Notice, not in a state that voted for him). And the leaders in Congress did not rush to call themselves back into session so they could impeach this dangerous maniac tout de suite. But so is the course of history. Sarah Paine is absolutely right when she says our country has committed several pivotal errors (things you can't come back from), and is in "prepcipitous decline." I am a patriot and fervently wish it were not so. But it is.
It's become a boring trope to say "just imagine if President x had done this"... but really, it would have been completely unthinkable for any previous president to have said this and not rightly expected it would end his political career immediately. I think the real truth is Trump's is already over. We're just waiting for the slow wheels of Constitutional process to turn him out of office. Too late, I fear. Them pivotal errors are piling up.
