On digesting things a day or two, I agree with Krugman in today's NY Times... the president did indeed, in Wednesday's speech, "call the bluff" of the Republicans and their vicious, deceptive, and mean-spirited plan to shift even more wealth to the very rich while destroying the most important social systems our country has yet produced. If this president means what he says, and this is a firm commitment, which I am prepared to take at his word, we have an opportunity to begin rebuilding a real Progressive Coalition, including the mainstream of the Democratic party. This is my hope.
